Barry Can’t Swim has announced his own ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation and shared the single ‘Chala (My Soul Is On A Loop)’.

Ther Scottish electronic producer and DJ – real name Joshua Mainnie – will released the latest in the long-running and acclaimed artist-curated mix series on March 6, and you can pre-order it here.

Late Night Tales launched in 2001 and has featured a glittering array of curators over the years, including Four Tet, Fatboy Slim, Belle & Sebastian, MGMT, Metronomy, Franz Ferdinand, Jon Hopkins and Hot Chip. Mainnie’s mix will be the first full entry in the series in five years and marks the start of its 25th anniversary year.

His mix will include some of his own material, including ‘Chala (My Soul Is On A Loop)’, which he has released as a single now via Ninja Tune/Late Night Tales, as well as ‘Sometimes I Feel So Alone’.

Otherwise, the mix will span the full range of energy and emotion associated with a classic night out, from the classic house of Lance DeSardi’s ‘Power Of Suggestion’ and Daniel Avery remixing Factory Floor, to the rich, delicate comedown of This Mortal Coil’s ‘The Lacemaker’.

Mainnie has said: “I was absolutely buzzing when I got asked to do Late Night Tales. Over the moon. It was such a significant thing for me. It’s a series that works consistently with really great artists, so it felt like a massive privilege to even be considered to be among the kind of people that Late Night Tales typically works with.”

“I have this Spotify playlist that’s called Barry Can’t Curate. I’d always put electronic music and different things in there that maybe I wouldn’t get to play in DJ sets. Late Night Tales is in the same world really – another place where you can share the music you love, but not necessarily music you’d play on a dancefloor.”
